Charm MRL BL/TET2A Test
The Charm MRLBLTET2A test is an advanced rapid test designed to detect two major antibiotic groups in raw milk: beta-lactams and tetracyclines. With only a 2-minute incubation time for cow's milk and 3 minutes for goat's or sheep's milk, it is the fastest dual residue test available for use on farms and in dairies. This single lateral flow strip screens for penicillins, cephalosporins, and the entire tetracycline family and complies with EU and Codex maximum residue limits. The test uses Charm's proven ROSA technology, the industry standard used by over 90% of all dairies in Europe. This guarantees accurate, reliable results, whether you're testing on the farm, upon receipt, or in a laboratory. The strip can be read visually or fully automatically with the Charm EZ reader for digital, documented results. Visual reading is simple. Three lines are present: C (control), BL (beta-lactam), and TE (tetracycline). A negative result is indicated by BL and TE lines that are the same as or darker than the control. A positive result occurs when one or both test lines appear lighter or disappear completely. Invalid strips can be easily identified and retested. The Charm EZ reader automates interpretation. Insert the strip after incubation, and the device displays a numerical value with the result: negative, BL positive, TET positive, or BLTET positive. Data can be saved or exported, ideal for farms requiring traceability or audit support. The MRLBLTET2A test helps farmers prevent antibiotic contamination in bulk tanks, avoid rejections, and ensure high-quality milk. The test is suitable for testing individual cows, routine tank inspections, goat and sheep dairy farms, and mixed herds. Available in kits of 40 and 100 tests, with the 100-test version including positive controls, this test provides rapid, reliable protection for milk safety and compliance with milk regulations. Charm MRLBL test
The Charm MRLBL test is a rapid and reliable lateral flow test designed to detect beta-lactam antibiotics in raw, mixed cow's milk. This group includes some of the most commonly used treatments in dairy farming, such as penicillin, amoxicillin, ceftiofur, cephapirin, and many others. The test is widely recognized as the industry standard and is used by over 90% of all dairy farms in Europe for routine screening of incoming milk. The MRLBL test is based on Charm's proven ROSA (Rapid One-Step Assay) technology and delivers accurate results that meet or exceed EU and Codex MRL limits. From farm to processing plant, this test provides reliable antibiotic testing in just 8 minutes, preventing unintended contamination, costly milk rejections, and loss of premiums for premium quality. The test can be read visually or interpreted digitally using the ROSA Reader or Charm EZ system. Visual interpretation is simple: a negative result is indicated by a test line (T) that is equal to or darker than the control line (C). A positive result is indicated by a T line that is lighter, irregular, or absent. The strip design provides clear, easy-to-read lines for confident decision-making in any farm environment. When used with the EZ/ROSA reader, the test strip is automatically analyzed. The device provides a numerical result along with a clear interpretation of Negative or Positive. Results can be saved, printed, or transferred to a computer, making it ideal for farms and dairies that require documented data for compliance or audits. The Charm MRLBL test is suitable for a wide range of applications, including bulk tank testing, individual cow monitoring after treatment, on-farm verification prior to collection, and screening on dairy farms. The test maintains high sensitivity even at low antibiotic concentrations and offers excellent reliability with minimal training. The MRLBL test is available in 40- and 100-test formats and provides reliable daily protection for milk quality and compliance throughout the dairy chain. Table 1 . Table 1. Charm CowSide II
The Charm CowSide II test is a microbial inhibition test designed for fast, simple, and affordable screening of cow's milk for antibiotic residues on the farm. The test works with raw, pasteurized, or ultra-pasteurized milk, as well as reconstituted milk powder. A color-change reaction visually identifies the presence of antimicrobial drugs commonly used in dairy production. Cultured bacteria in the test vial react with the milk sample. If no antibiotics are present, the bacteria grow and produce acid, causing the agar to turn from purple to yellow. If antibiotics or other inhibitors are present, no color change occurs. This makes the Charm CowSide II test an efficient tool for verifying that milk is free of inhibitors before it is tanked or delivered to the dairy. The test detects a wide range of antibiotic groups, including beta-lactams, tetracyclines, macrolides, aminoglycosides, sulfonamides, and others, often at or near EU/CODEX and US tolerance levels. The test experiences minimal interference from high fat content, somatic cell counts, or normal bacterial loads, making it suitable for daily use on the farm. Performing a test is simple. Using the supplied disposable pipette, 100 µL of milk is added to the vial. The vial is incubated for approximately three hours at 64°C, usually in the Charm Vial Incubator or a compatible block heater. After incubation, the color is compared to the supplied interpretation card. Results should be evaluated within 30 minutes of removal from the incubator, although the color remains stable for up to 16 hours if the vial remains in the incubator after switching it off. In the case of positive or equivocal results, the recommended retest procedure with heat treatment helps determine whether the cause is actual antibiotic residues or a heat-sensitive inhibitor, such as contamination from disinfectants. Optional positive and negative control standards are available to verify performance. With simple operation, minimal equipment, and clear color results, the CowSide II test offers an economical and reliable way for farmers to protect milk quality, reduce the risk of rejection, and ensure confidence before the milk leaves the farm.
